Diablo FC Announces 2009-2010 U9-U14 Coaching
Staff
Feb 13, 2009
Director of Coaching Brian Voltattorni and his
coaching directors have announced Under 9
through Under 14 Diablo FC coaching staff
assignments for the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
“We are very pleased to unveil our coaching
staff, which includes many returning coaches and
some newcomers to Diablo FC,” Voltattorni said
today.
He went on to state that the assignments are
made pending team tryouts and there may be some
minor shifting as the final lineup of teams is
ascertained after tryouts.
Diablo FC is joining the other major clubs in
Northern California having their U9, U10 and U11
teams all play 8v8 short sided games beginning
this season. We that in mind, Diablo FC is
planning on smaller rosters in those age groups
and has made staff appointments based on that
program.
St. Mary’s College head men’s coach Adam Cooper
is the U9-U11 age group director. Club Technical
Director Marquis White will also serve as
U12-U14 age group director. Multiple State Cup
champion coaches John Badger (boys) and Richard
Weiszmann (girls) are the U15-U19 age group
directors. White, Badger and Weiszmann have all
taken teams from the club to National
Championship games in the past few years,
including White’s 2008 North American Super
Y-League champion Diablo FC 94 boys. Hugo La
Torre continues as Division 3 director.
World Cup star Sissi adds Technical Consultant
to her Diablo FC duties coaching a pair of club
teams. She is also assistant coach of FC Gold
Pride, the Bay Area franchise in the new Women`s
Professional Soccer.
Henry Foulk is the Diablo FC goalkeeper coach.
Club alumnus Stefan Frei, who also played for
Foulk at Cal Berkeley, was the #1 goalie draft
choice in the 2009 Major League Soccer draft.
Another club alumnus, Chris Brown, just
graduated from Boston College and is also in MLS
training camp this year. Chris` older brother
(and club alumnus) Adin Brown is currently in
the Norwegian first division after years in MLS
and as the United States Olympic team
goalkeeper.
“We plan on Division 1 gold and silver teams in
each age group. Based on pre-tryout sign-ups and
returning players we may have a third Division 1
team for a couple ages. We are also looking to
form bronze (Division 3) teams in several age
groups,” Voltattorni explained.
The Director of Coaching added, “We are
finalizing a strength and conditioning program
and futsal training to be introduced this year
as well as a college coordinator to help with
college placement of our older players.” Two
more veteran Brazilian coaches in the club,
Ricardo Da Silva and Tafarel, will be working on
the futsal and skills development of the
players.
