Diablo FC 92 U16
girls have winning 9 days
March 29, 2009
Diablo FC 92 girls have had a busy schedule
during the past two weekends playing 9 games
over 9 days in Morgan Hill and La Jolla. In 7 of
the 9 games coach Richard Weiszmann's U16 girls
didn't give up a goal.
Last weekend they
posted three straight shutout wins to advance in
CYSA State Cup. They will be in the State Cup
Sweet 16 on April 18. (As will the Diablo 94 and
Diablo 94 Blue U14 girls teams!)
This
weekend they went to the prestigious Nomads
College Coaches Showcase on the beautiful UC San
Diego campus. They played 6 games between Friday
morning and Sunday afternoon. Their two games
Sunday went to penalty kicks in the semi-finals
and overtime in the finals as they won the
tournament. Teams from Utah, Arizona, Idaho,
Minnesota and Southern California took part in
their Premier flight of 20 teams. They drew
their second game with Wolfpack SC 1-1 but won
the other five at Nomads, including a rematch
with Wolfpack that went to penalty kicks in the
semis.
The championship game was against
Santa Clarita Blazers (ranked #24 in the USA)
and Diablo FC 92 won 1-0 in OT.
