Diablo FC Hope Fund helps youths in need

Diablo FC is committed to serving disadvantaged young athletes in Contra Costa County by providing the same athletic opportunities available to children from more stable economic backgrounds. To meet this goal, Diablo FC is able to provide partial scholarships through our Hope Fund to cover registration, training and uniform costs for children who qualify for financial aid.

Due to financial constraints, the Club cannot provide full financial aid to even the neediest of children. Diablo FC’s Hope Fund is used for the purpose of providing financial aid for players who qualify solely on the basis of financial need. For these disadvantaged young athletes, playing on a Diablo FC soccer team could mean the difference between success and failure in their lives. In Diablo FC’s intensive year-round soccer program, these young athletes learn much more than how to play competitive soccer. They become part of a community that helps them learn the focus, life skills and values to be successful throughout their youth, adolescence and into adulthood.

If you choose to sponsor one or several children, you will help give these deserving young people a bridge to life opportunities that may otherwise be denied them. Your generous sponsorship will do much more than help each child achieve his or her potential as a soccer player; it will also help:

• Improve positive self-concept, self-worth and self-confidence

• Promote personal responsibility and accountability

• Learn the discipline necessary to be successful in sports, school and life

• Improve personal decision-making

• Learn skills to deal with anger and frustration in appropriate ways

• Learn to work with others to solve problems and resolve conflict

• Learn the value of working hard to achieve goals

• Learn what it means to be a valued member of a team

Being a Hope Fund sponsor is not about soccer… It’s about using soccer to help a disadvantaged youth stay out of trouble and focused on achieving their full potential in life. Diablo FC identifies boys and girls in its player population that cannot participate in our program without a sponsorship. The cost of providing a sponsorship to players in our older age groups is $1,250. Players in our younger age group need sponsorships of $800 to $1000, depending on their specific age. The cost to sponsor a player in our older age group is higher than our younger players because older players train and travel more frequently than younger players.
Even with these sponsorships, the families and teams of the sponsored players still will have to fund part of the costs associated with each sponsored player. Diablo FC believes that each and every player’s family must contribute what it can, and remain an active participant in each player’s development. Hope Fund sponsorships close the gap between the impossible and the possible. If you so desire you can receive updates on each player you choose through the Club (your name is not released unless you ask us to do so). Please
consider sponsoring multiple players if you can. Diablo FC is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and
your sponsorship is tax deductible. You will receive a confirmation letter from the Club for tax purposes.
