Adin Brown named to Silver Anniversary team

CAA Announces Silver Anniversary Team for Men’s Soccer Aug. 6, 2009.jpg) Richmond, VA - The Colonial Athletic Association announced the men’s soccer Silver Anniversary Team on Thursday, and William and Mary was again very well represented. The College placed five former players onto the squad, tied for most among all CAA schools along with James Madison. Diablo FC alumnus Adin Brown was among those honored. As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. A panel of current and former head coaches in the conference selects the teams. The CAA has established itself as one of the nation’s premier men’s soccer conferences. Since sponsorship of the sport began in 1985, the CAA has sent multiple teams to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship in 17 of the 24 seasons, with the Tribe reaching the post-season on 11 occasions, most recently last season. Brown is an alumnus of De La Salle High School and played for DVSC with his mentor Joe Della Santina, former DVSC Director of Coaching. He is currently playing professionally in Norway after spending time in MLS and on the US Olympic Team. W&M Players on the CAA Men’s Soccer Silver Anniversary Team Adin Brown – Goalkeeper - 1996-99 • Earned first team All-America honors in 1998 and 1999 • Four-time All- CAA and three-time All-South Atlantic Region selection • W&M’s all-time leader in saves (417), shutouts (34) and save percentage (.841) • Member of the U.S. Olympic Team in 1999 and 2000 Wade Barrett – Midfielder - 1994-97 • CAA Player of the Year and first team All-American in 1997 • Three-time All- CAA and All-South Atlantic Region selection • Ranked among the top seven in W&M history in goals (38), assists (26) and points (102) • Member of the U.S. Under 20 National Team in 1995 Waughn Hughes – Forward - 1993-96 • CAA Player of the Year and All-America selection in 1996 • Two-time All-CAA and All-South Atlantic Region honoree • W&M’s all-time leader in goals (52), game-winning goals (21) and points (131) • Set school season records for game-winning goals (11) and points (60) in 1996 Steve Jolley – Midfielder - 1993-96 • Four-time All-CAA and three-time All-South Atlantic Region selection • Ranked second in career assists (37) and fifth in points (109) at W&M • Member of the U.S. Under 20 National Team in 1994 and 1995 • Helped W&M to a 68-17-5 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances Jon Tuttle – Forward - 1985-88 • Three-time All-CAA selection who was the CAA Player of the Year in 1988 • Named to the All-South Atlantic Region squad during all four seasons • Earned Academic All-America honors in 1987 and 1988 • Ranks ninth in W&M history with 77 points on 29 goals and 19 assists
