Karin Volpe Pac 10 Player of the Week
Club alumnus scores game-tying & winning goals in come-from-behind win

WALNUT CREEK, CA -- Arizona State junior Karin Volpe been named Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 24-31, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Volpe was a member of MDSL Fury coached by Brian Voltattorni and a graduate of Clayton Valley High School. A native of Brentwood, Volpe tied a single-game career best by scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Sun Devils’ come-from-behind, double-overtime win over Tennessee on Friday at the Lady Vol Classic. With ASU trailing 2-1, Volpe scored the game-tying goal with 13 seconds left in regulation and then won the game in the 107th minute. The goals moved Volpe into a tie for fourth place on ASU’s career list for game-winning goals (7), eighth place for career goals scored (16) and 10th place in points (36). This is the first weekly honor for Volpe, and Arizona State’s 12th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time. www.pac-10.org-
